We spoke with the driver, Jim O'Doherty, who had this to say:
"I used to drive this back in the mid ‘60s for Fleet Owners. Part of the Co-Ord group on the Alice to Larrimah, Darwin, and Mount Isa.
King of the road in those days.
28ft tray with three trailers behind. Quad box with 5th gear pinned out and 47mph diffs. Top speed about 35 if you were lucky. Used to take 7 days round trip to Darwin.
