In 1986 my mum Trish was cooking at Bunker Hill Roadhouse.
That year, Bunker Hill won the “BATTLE OF THE HIGHWAY ASHES”.
I am now in possession of the cricket bat “trophy” (pictured).
But what was the Battle of the Highway Ashes all about? Was it a cricket game or something else?
Is there anyone out there who knows?
...and why was the roadhouse called Bunker Hill?
I’m sure my mum cooked a feed for many of you old timers in her time cooking at not only Bunker Hill, but Yarroweyah, Wahring House and Truck City.
